What is the Political Courage Test?

Utah Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am 100% Pro-Life and will unequivocally stand for the rights of the unborn in Congress. As a State Legislator, I sponsored legislation to defend the lives of the unborn and I will do the same in Congress.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I believe very strongly that we have to honor our commitments that have been made on Social Security and Medicare. We have to ensure that our children aren't shackled to the debts of their parents. I will work to limit the size of government and reduce wasteful spending so taxpayers can keep more of what they worked so hard to earn. If Congress can't balance the budget, then they shouldn't be paid. At the end of the day, they are your tax dollars and I will make sure Washington understands that.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
Hill Air Force Base is vital to the success of our state and nation. These programs are essential to our national security and I will support them in Congress.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
In times of crisis, as we've seen with COVID-19, the most important thing is to get the economy back on track. I will work closely with the President and his administration to pursue policies right now that will help our Utah small businesses, and get our economy on track. The best way to stimulate the economy is by pushing for limited government, free-market principles, and removing red tape so that our small businesses can thrive and prosper.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
First, it is crucial that we get our fiscal house in order. I will work to balance the budget, reduce federal regulation, and cut red tape to ensure our small businesses can thrive and prosper. In addition, I will work to protect Hill Air Force Base, ensure Uthans have a prominent seat at the table in how we manage our public lands, and work to defend the rights of the unborn, the right to bear arms, and preserve our constitutional rights and freedoms.
